Pair of Bulls Earn MAC Honors
Senior linebacker Larry Hutchinson was named the Mid-American Conference East Division defensive player of the week. Hutchinson recorded eight tackles, six of which were solo stops, four tackles for loss of yards and three sacks in Saturday's game against Temple. He also forced two fumbles and recovered a fumble. Senior Simon Manka was named the East Division special teams player of the week. Manka totaled two tackles and blocked a punt versus the Owls. His first tackle was a five-yard loss on kickoff coverage.
Eight Members to join Hall of Fame
UB has announced that seven alumni will be inducted into the Dr. and Mrs. Edmund J. Gicewicz Family Hall of Fame on Friday, Oct. 5. The Pioneering Award will be given to Belle Farrar Theobold, the first woman to join a men's varsity team. Doris Kostrinsky will be awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award. Other notable inductees include: soccer player Kate Ricci, fencing sensation William Kazer, woman's basketball player Tiffany Yusef, men's soccer star Steve Butcher, and football player Drew Haddad. Anne and Charles Tirone will be honored with the Russell J. Gugino Award for Buffalo alumni who have made significant contributions to the university's athletics program.
