Men's Basketball

The men's basketball team found on Monday that they will play Indiana State in the ESPN Bracket Buster Tournament. The game, which is scheduled for Feb. 21, is part of the tournament, which is designed to give mid-major conference schools a chance to make a national impact just before the tournament.

The Sycamores, best known for their 1978-79 season when Larry Bird led them to the National Championship game, are currently 8-11 overall and 4-7 in the Missouri Valley Conference. The only other time the teams played was the 1975-76 season when ISU pounded the Bulls 102-73.

Turner Battle

Turner Battle, of the men's basketball team, keeps raking in the honors this season. Battle has already been named to the All-MAC preseason team, and was this week's MAC Player of the Week.

On Tuesday he was named the MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week. On the court Battle averaged 22.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, five assists and 2.3 steals in the last three games. His classroom numbers are just as impressive; he sports a 3.47 grade point average in Communication. Last season he was the only player on both the All-MAC and Academic All-MAC teams.
