UB will try to finally play a home series this weekend when they host Bowling Green for a four-game set at the Amherst Pepsi Center Field. All 10 of Buffalo's previously scheduled home games were postponed or moved due to the weather.
Buffalo's minor league baseball team drew a crowd of 14,038 for their home opener with the Ottawa Lynx Wednesday afternoon. The Bisons lost 3-2, but the attendance was the highest of any team in the International League. Buffalo continues its series with the Lynx Friday, then hosts Scranton/Wilkes-Barre over the weekend.
The team earned a 4-4 tie with the Pittsburgh Penguins Wednesday night in a meaningless game. Neither team will advance to the NHL playoffs, which begin Tuesday, April 16. The Penguins got two goals in the third period to erase a 4-2 Sabres lead and earn a point.
