CD Review: Last Days of Radio- 'Impacto!'

Last Days of Radio is an all-star band of sorts for local rock fans. Featuring Buffalo's best bassist Blaine Toney (The New Chemistry, Blue Bullet Skater) as well as drummer Jeff Schaller (Grand National), guitarist/vocalist Alex Krause (Chesterfield) and guitarist Chris Coleman, the expectations were high for their first release.

"Impacto!" delivers with a rock-sensibility to its often pop - and sometimes emo - style. Krause does an admirable job of resisting temptation to add words where they aren't needed, while also knowing when to take the reigns and drive a song, as he does on the EP's best track, "Prisoner." The sublime interaction between all the instruments gives the band true cohesiveness. With a little more dynamic in the recording and the natural evolution that is band life, Last Days of Radio is a band to watch for.

Recommended for fans of: Matthew Sweet, Saves The Day, Diffuser.
