I am writing to voice my support for John O'Day's Letter to the Editor, "British-Irish Referendum Needed," that appeared in the Nov. 12 issue of The Spectrum. His plan is a prime example of the vision that we so desperately need when dealing with issues as complex as the British-Ireland situation.
The plan he offers is both fair and balanced to the Irish people as well as the inhabitants throughout the entire British Island. By unifying the four provincial legislatures under the Irish Dail, a strong federal government will indubitably arise. A plan like this one will not only guarantee peace and prosperity in the United Kingdom, but would demonstrate an excellent example for the rest of the world to follow.
So kudos to O'Day for envisioning such an ingenious idea. Now we can only hope and pray that this plan will one day be implemented.
