This spring’s undergraduate Student Association e-board elections for the 2026-27 term will see 22 candidates in the running. Three full tickets, three two-person parties and one independent candidate will vie for five e-board positions: president, vice president for advocacy, vice president for clubs, vice president for events and treasurer.
Only three out of the five in SA’s current e-board will be back in the race. SA President Aisha Adam will be graduating at the end of spring and Vice President for Advocacy Mason Bayer is not seeking another term. The rest — Vice President for Clubs William Dong, Vice President for Events Benjamin Lau and Treasurer Jack Koscinski — are looking for reelections but in different roles.
Each candidate had to acquire at least 100 undergraduate signatures to qualify.
Lau is seeking the presidential role this time with the “Stand on Business” party. The rest of the group are all newcomers: Brittiny Ando for vice president for advocacy, Hassan Fousseini for vice president for events, Arko Saha for vice president for clubs and Adrian Espinal for treasurer.
Heading the “REAL” party, Koscinski will also be competing for president for next year’s term, with Dong on the ballot for vice president for events. Alongside the two, Pranavan Balachandran is in the running for vice president for clubs, Na’Dia Carter for vice president for advocacy and former SA Elections and Credentials Chair Laron Fomby for treasurer. Balachandran, Carter and Fomby all ran for e-board seats last spring: Balachandran and Carter with SA President Aisha Adam under the “REAL” party and Fomby headed the “Victory” party.
SA Senator Grant Peterson, heading the “UB Forward” party, is shooting for president. Joining Peterson, fellow SA Senator Joshua Brodsky and newcomers Joe Laurita and Roja Khanam are in the race for vice president for advocacy, vice president for events and vice president for clubs respectively. Kaly Lin is on the ballot for treasurer.
SA Senate Chairperson Aidan Thomas and Senator Sierra Fernandez are running together again on the “Unity4UB” ticket, with both previously winning Senate seats for this year’s term under the name. Thomas is on the ballot for vice president for clubs and Fernandez for vice president for advocacy.
On the two-person ticket named “The Student Voice,” SA Senator Aeaad Alawaad and newcomer Cielo Saric are in the running for president and vice president for events respectively.
Newcomers under the “UB the Dream” party: Keegan Foxvog is competing for president and Sanah Ali for treasurer.
Charlene Okine is this year’s only independent candidate, vying for president under a ticket named “UB the Voice.”
SA, the undergraduate student government, operates with a $4.5 million budget — funded by the $109 mandatory student activity fee. It is one of the major sources of funding for student events and clubs, and advocates on behalf of the undergraduate body.
SA’s e-board members receive a $19,500 annual stipend.
The Spectrum will be holding Q&As with the candidates.
