Presidential Election Perspectives


Kristin Street, Sophomore, Finance

Candidates: Barack Obama or John McCain

On McCain: "We've had other old presidents. None of the other recent ones have been fresh spring chickens."

On Obama: "I've heard most of his campaign stuff. I haven't heard a lot about Hillary."

Melissa VanRy, Senior, Psychology

Candidate: Ron Paul

On Democrats: "No, just honestly I couldn't."

On Ron Paul: "I like smaller government. I like that he wants to change the country and not worry about the rest of the world."

John Ilacqua, Senior, Aerospace Engineering

Candidate: Hillary Clinton

On others: "Strictly not Republican."

On Obama: "I don't think Obama is much of anything, just a pretty face."

Albert Panek, Senior, Legal Studies

Candidate: "I'm leaning more towards the right. McCain is probably the better of the ones so far."

On Democrats: "Wouldn't even consider it."

Jasmine Girard, Freshman, Nursing

Candidate: Mike Huckabee or Barack Obama

On Huckabee: "I like his character. I like his consumption tax idea."

Bassem Almuti, Graduate Student, Civil Engineering

Candidate: John McCain

On McCain: "He seemed like a good choice in the 2000 primary. He has a good background in international policy."
