The Spectrum's piece on presidential candidate Howard Dean's effort to get out the college vote accurately portrayed the former Vermont governor as truly interested in the success of America's youth. Among those stands, Dean has advocated repealing President George W. Bush's irresponsible tax cuts in order to fund programs in healthcare, homeland security and job creation. He also believes the principles of civil rights and justice are fundamental to restoring the American community - a belief that is reflected in his strong support of affirmative action, a woman's right to chose and the extension of equal rights to all gay and lesbian Americans.
