Women's Swimming

The UB Bulls women's swimming and diving team suffered a heartbreaking defeat Saturday against the Akron Zips in Ocasek Natatorium by a score of 152.5 to 147.5.

Buffalo had the lead heading into the final event - the 400-yard freestyle relay - and would take the victory with a win in the event. However, the Zips were able to touch out the Bulls by the closest of margins, clocking in at 3:34.71 to UB's 3:35.91.

Buffalo (5-3, 2-3 Mid-American Conference) will next play Eastern Michigan and Toledo back-to-back on Jan. 30 and 31.

Track

Even though host Cornell dominated Saturday's Cornell Challenge, taking first place on both the men and women's side, the Buffalo Bulls performed admirably in placing second on the women's side and third on the men's.

UB's women scored 104.5 points, earning them second place, and the Big Red put 228 on the board easily securing the win. Syracuse finished third with 89.

The men earned 80 points, good for third place behind Cornell's 214 and Albany's 94.5.

Reggie Rucker and Dan Simpson set records in the long jump and pole vault respectively, and Simpson's vault qualified him for March's IC4A Championships.
