Amanda Woods

Asst. Campus Editor

Amanda Woods began writing for The Spectrum in the spring semester of her sophomore year as a News Desk staff writer and was promoted to assistant news editor the following semester. Currently, she is an assistant campus editor.
Amanda is a junior English major in the journalism certificate program at UB. She has taken several English courses spanning literature from various time periods, but her favorite courses have always been those that focus on journalism.
Although Amanda has always enjoyed writing, it was not until college that her journalistic interest developed. She wants to interact with people through her writing and give a voice to the voiceless. Journalism, she discovered, is the perfect way to do that.
Amanda has experience working in two different media and press-related internships. In the summer of 2008, she interned in the press office of the New York City Administration for Children's Services, where she reported on agency events and organized daily press clippings. In the summer of 2009, she was an editorial intern at the Christian blogging Web site revelife.com, where she contributed posts and regulated the content on the main page.
Amanda hopes to attend journalism graduate school, paving the way for her future career in newspaper reporting. She aspires to one day return to her stomping ground in Brooklyn, NY and add her journalistic voice to the pages of The New York Times.
