Women's Basketball
For the second time in her career, Jessica Kochendorfer was named the Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week. She shares the honor with Kent State's Lindsay Shearer.
Although her week was filled with many accolades, perhaps Kochendorfer's strongest showing came against Cornell where she almost posted a triple-double. Her nine blocks in that game set a school record.
Kochendorfer also blew the doors off of the Marshall Thundering Herd when she went for 24 points and 13 rebounds in their encounter Jan. 17.
UB Skiing
The men's and women's UB ski teams competed Saturday and Sunday, and both returned with mixed results.
The men's team finished eighth of 12 on Saturday while doing one better on Sunday in finishing seventh. Jason McGibbon, the team's top dog, fell during his runs, but is hopeful to return next week.
On the other side, the women fared a little bit better in finishing seventh out of 12 on Saturday, while coming in at fourth on Sunday. Lauren Tsai was able to place third out of 54 racers in the Slalom.
Both Buffalo ski teams will be back in action on Jan. 24 and 25 in Swain.
Men's Swimming
The men's swimming and diving team beat cross-town rivals Niagara University in Saturday's meet at the Alumni Arena Natatorium. The 138-52 victory was the Bulls' 23rd straight win over the Purple Eagles.
Jon Yarger scored two individual and one relay victory to lead the Bulls to victory. He won the 200 individual medley, 500 freestyle and swam the backstroke leg on the 400-yard medley team.
Ryan Cahill also won two events for the Bulls. He took the 50-yard freestyle and 100 yard freestyle races. Geoff Wells, Aaron Moessinger, Kevin Gatley, Jeff Hurst and Patrick Lee were also individual victors.
