For the most part, I agree with Lawrence Cheeley's ("Professors are not students' servants," March 3) comments on the privileges and rights of a higher education. However, I think that the university as a whole also needs to do a better job of defining and defending itself as an institution of higher learning, which it is, and not as a market-driven packaged tour of "educational experience," which it certainly is not. Until that happens, there will be a number of students who see themselves as little more than customers, and who offer the UB community little more than money.
