UB women’s soccer (5-2-5, 1-3-1 MAC) picked up its second consecutive tie, 2-2, on Thursday night against Central Michigan (2-4-4, 1-3-1 MAC) in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.
UB tied another Mid-American Conference (MAC) opponent, Eastern Michigan (1-6-6, 1-2-2 MAC), 3-3 on Monday.
Thursday’s game had both teams battling the entire 90-minute allotment, with each side holding the lead at different points in the game.
UB took an early lead, with sophomore midfielder Katie Khron, MAC Offensive Player of the Week, scoring within the first three minutes of play. Khron has had an impressive season so far, scoring 11 goals in 12 games and earning recognition for her stellar play.
The Bulls held onto their early lead until senior goalie Rebecca Winslow attempted a pass to a defensive player. A player from Central Michigan intercepted the pass and put the ball in the back of the net in the 30th minute. This tie lasted into the second half, when CMU’s Jaelyn Dobrowolski, a redshirt junior forward, was able to fire a shot to the lower left and past UB’s goalie, gaining a 2-1 lead in the 73rd minute.
The Chippewas were able to keep Buffalo at bay, maintaining their lead for almost 10 minutes until the Bulls struck back. At 83:05, junior forward Arianna Zumpano drove the ball through the lower center to tie the game once again. While both teams had a few free-kick or goal-kick opportunities and three shots for the Bulls, the game remained tied until the clock ran out.
The Bulls are home for their next game on Sunday, Oct. 8 against Ball State (5-2-2, 3-0-2) at 1 p.m., in a rematch of last year’s MAC Championship game, which UB won 2-0. The game can be watched on YouTube.
