Sophomore setter Maddie Mitchell and senior outside hitter Manoela Forlin led the way for UBs women’s volleyball team to finish with a 2-1 record over this weekend at the Billiken Invitational in St. Louis, Missouri. The Bulls squeaked out a close one against University of Illinois Chicago in the first match for a 3-2 victory, followed by a loss against the hosting St. Louis Billikens in four sets and finished with a strong win against Lindenwood in four sets as well.
Mitchell racked up a total of 109 assists over the span of three matches. Her consistent performance brings her within 26 assists of reaching 1,000 total assists for her career, which she could achieve in one of her upcoming matches in Broadview Arena this coming week.
Forlin contributed through countless kills and digs, achieving a double-double in the last match with 16 kills and 12 digs, as well as having multiple games with double figures in both stats throughout the weekend.
The Bulls return to Broadview Arena for the Buffalo/Canisius Invitational, looking to carry the momentum from their strong weekend in St. Louis. They begin the invitational against Canisius on Wednesday, Sept. 2 until Saturday, Sept. 5. All games will be livestreamed on UB Bulls Youtube Channel at 6 p.m. for everyone to watch.
