University and Amherst Police responded to the accident, cordoning off a section of Augspurger Road.

Update: The injured student was discharged from ECMC Monday night and is at home recovering, a university spokesperson said Wednesday.

A 23-year-old UB student was sent to Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) with “serious, but non-life threatening injuries” after they were struck by a car on campus at approximately 8 a.m. Monday, University Police said in a statement.

Charges are pending against the driver, an 18-year-old UB student. Police say there is no evidence that the driver was impaired.

The driver was traveling east on Augspurger Road near the Flint Village Apartments when they struck the pedestrian, who was inside a crosswalk.

University and Amherst Police responded to the scene, sealing off a section of Augspurger Road with yellow tape. A white sedan with large cracks in the right side of its windshield sat in the center of the taped off area.

UPD’s investigation is ongoing.

UB will “continue to provide support to the student who was struck in the accident,” a university spokesperson said in a statement.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
