A UB student is currently quarantined in Governors Complex with “a presumptive case of COVID-19,” according to a Tuesday email from complex coordinator Julie Szarma.
The student is experiencing mild symptoms and will not undergo testing at this time, UB announced on its coronavirus advisory site.
Today marks UB’s first public acknowledgment of a possible on-campus COVID-19 case. The Erie County Department of Health’s COVID-19 case tracker indicates there are no cases on North Campus, however, as of Tuesday afternoon.
The student’s roommate, who currently has no COVID-19 symptoms, was relocated to another dorm to undergo precautionary quarantine, according to the email sent to Governors residents.
UB Health Services is supporting the resident’s recovery while residence hall employees deliver food to both the afflicted student and their roommate, according to the email.
