Used to the pressure

Tuesday night, the Rapids Theater in Niagara Falls will house one of the best hard rock showcases of the upcoming semester.

Veteran bands The Used and Atreyu will spend the night serenading and getting a lucky group of fans moving.

To call these two bands heavyweights of their respective scenes would be an understatement. Both of these bands have been sporting face melting guitar solos and glass shattering vocals for almost a decade.

The Used is a suitable name for a band with such experience. Not only did The Used help bands like Taking Back Sunday, Thursday, and Thrice help found a scene; they have endured member departures and close personal losses.

Being the biggest band to come out of Utah, The Used uses their brutal breakdowns and heart-felt lyrics to gain the adoration of millions of lonely teens.

With their latest release, Artwork, The Used is yet again trying to define a scene. Trying to get a 'gross pop' sound, Artwork brings even more brutal breakdowns than their previous efforts and shows great advancement in terms of lyrics.

Atreyu is still one of the hardest rocking bands in the industry today. Helping to keep metal alive, Atreyu released their fifth studio album, Congregation of the Damned. Although the album may have a more radio friendly sound then their previous installments, Atreyu still knows how to get kids moving and throwing down in the pit.

The newly renovated Rapids Theater is possibly the best venue to have these two bands play. Huge and open, the Rapids Theater has a quite bigger capacity than the Town Ballroom.
