As Leto's voice radiates from the listener's headphones, a message is heard that hits home for most fans.
'We were the kings and queens of promise/ We were the victims of ourselves/ Maybe the children of a lesser God/ Between heaven and hell,' Leto sings.
As we get to the title track, all of the warmth radiated through 'Kings and Queens' is put toward a greater purpose. 'This is War' seems to be a call to arms directed at every member of the Echelon.
