Men's basketball game to air on ESPN2

With the championship season the football team has had, Buffalo athletics is gaining ground across the country.

On Jan. 31, ESPN2 will visit Alumni Arena as the network will air a Mid-American Conference men's basketball matchup between the Buffalo Bulls and the Toledo Rockets.

Originally, the game was to begin at 7 p.m., but it will now begin at noon.

This will be the second time that the team will air on national television. Four years ago, Buffalo beat Ball State on Feb. 12, 2005.

The start time for the women's basketball game has changed as well. Originally set to begin at 5 p.m., the matchup against the Broncos will follow immediately after the men's game.

Fifty years later, Bulls honored by ECAC

In 1958, the Buffalo Bulls football team earned the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC)'s Lambert Cup, symbolic of their 8-1 season at the Division I level.

In 2009, while they did not earn the No. 1 spot, the Bulls still earned some recognition from the conference.

After their 38-20 loss to Connecticut in the International Bowl, the Bulls were ranked tenth in the ECAC after winning the Mid-American Conference championship in addition to playing in their first bowl game in the school's history.

In addition, sophomore safety Davonte Shannon became the first modern-era Bull to be named to the ECAC Football Bowl Subdivision All-Stars.
