A man wearing clown makeup armed with a machete and a masked man with a shotgun were involved in an attempted robbery near South Campus on Monday night.
The suspects entered through an unlocked rear door of the first block of Winspear Avenue home around 9:30 p.m., according to Michael DeGeorge, Buffalo Police spokesman.
"It appears that a scuffle ensued between the individuals home at the time and the suspects," DeGeorge said. "It appears that one of the suspects struck one of the victims in the face with the gun."
DeGeorge confirmed that at least one of the victims was known to be a UB alumnus.
According to DeGeorge, the suspects demanded money, but were not given any. Nothing else is known to be missing from the house.
One of the victims was treated at Sister's Hospital after the incident.
"It appears that Halloween came early this year," DeGeorge said.
