An investigation is pending after a UB student reported being assaulted during an off-campus party at 82 Merrimac Street on Feb. 1 at around 11:30 p.m.
The complainant, 19-year-old UB student David S. Cohen, reported accidentally stepping on the foot of suspect Alex Leclair, an 18-year-old freshman in the School of Management, when a fight ensued.
Both students were involved in a verbal argument, according to a Buffalo Police Report.
The report also stated that the complainant tried walking away after being involved in pushing and shoving, but as he turned and looked back, Leclair punched him in the left eye.
The victim suffered swelling and multiple fractures to his orbital bone. He was taken to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital for treatment.
Leclair faces second-degree assault charges with intent to cause serious physical injury, the police report stated.
