The Spectrum Watchlist

This Week's Theme: ÒThe Best Band DocumentariesÓ

Classic: Gimme Shelter (1970)

This haunting film documents the free concert the Rolling Stones gave at the Altamont Speedway, with the Hell's Angels in charge of security. The crowd gets rowdy and the Angels fight back, murdering a man while the Stones play "Sympathy for the Devil." Wow.

Current: Heima (2007)

On a far more peaceful note, this may be the greatest band doc about an Icelandic rock band of all time. The band is Sigur Ros and the visuals are incredible, presenting Iceland as some undiscovered haven of happiness. This is cinema, and music at its purest and most beautiful.
