Dan Stevens selected in MISL Draft

Senior forward Dan Stevens of the men's soccer team was selected in the 2008 Major Indoor Soccer League College Draft. He was taken by the defending league champion Philadelphia KiXX with the 43rd overall pick. This is the second-straight season in which a Buffalo Bulls player was taken in the MISL College Draft. Last year, Andrae Clarke was taken with the 21st pick, also with the Philadelphia KiXX.

In Stevens' two seasons at Buffalo, he scored four goals and recorded nine assists. He was named to the All-MAC First Team and the MAC All-Tournament Team following his senior season.

Tom Oatley of Western Michigan was the only other MAC player taken in the MISL College Draft.

UB Intramural Program successful in aiding community

Over winter break, the Recreation and Intramural Services at the University at Buffalo held a can drive program called Can It...For Winter, as part of the Group Fitness Program. Aerobic participants under Jessica Nyrop, Director of Aerobics and Spinning Instruction, brought in one non-perishable food item for each class. The food item permitted participation in each class.

Classes for the winter aerobic program included indoor cycling, Pilates and muscle sculpting. The classes were free to any students, faculty members, staff, or community members. The non-perishable food item made the program easy for members to join, as well as making it community-friendly.

Recreation and Intramural Services collected over 130 food items, which will be donated to the Friends of the Night People, a non-profit organization serving meals and providing essential support services to the homeless, destitute and poor working class living throughout the Buffalo area.
