Track & Field teams successful in New York

The Buffalo track and field teams traveled to New York City to compete in the New Balance Collegiate Meet. Both teams competed against some of the nation's top-ranked programs.

The women's team placed in 20th with some impressive performances. Junior Fatimah Hill won the women's long jump with a mark of 6.18 meters. This mark also set a school record, breaking her mark of 5.89m set in 2007. Senior Tina Villa also placed high for the Bulls with her third place finish in the shot put. Her distance was 15.52m, a personal best.

The men had an impressive showing as well. Sophomore Ezekiel Porter placed 16th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.69 seconds. The men's 4 x 400-meter team made up of Porter, sophomore John Bauman, sophomore John Connors and freshman Brandon Giles won the New York State championship with a time of 3:19.35. There was no team scoring for the men's teams.

The Bulls will next compete at the Akron Open on Friday, Feb. 22 in Akron, Ohio.
