Bulls win one at Cornell Fall Invite

Senior Nikesh Singh Panthlia won the B flight singles championship at the Cornell Fall Invite last weekend for the men's tennis team. Panthlia defeated his teammate, freshman Marcelo Mazzetto 6-1,6-4 in the finals. To reach the final round, Panthlia had to play three matches that all went to three sets, including a pair of third-set tiebreakers in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds. He lost the first set in both of these matches.

Athletes of the Week

Junior Mary Veith of the cross-country team earned the female athlete of the week honors. In the Mid-American Conference championships, Veith was selected as a member of the All-MAC first team after finishing in third place in the 5K race with a time of 17:48.

Junior quarterback Drew Willy was selected as the male athlete of the week. Willy tied his career high with three touchdown passes in Buffalo's 26-10 win against Akron last Saturday. He was 11-14 for 125 yards and has completed 67.2 percent of his passes.
