Gill named MAC Coach of the Year

Football head coach Turner Gill was named the 2007 Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year after leading the Bulls to a 5-7 record and a 5-3 record in conference play. This season also marked the first time the Bulls had a winning record at home.

"I'm humbled by this honor," Gill said in a prepared statement. "However, this speaks more about the coaching staff as a unit than it does about me personally. I would like to thank President John Simpson, Athletic Director Warde Manuel and the University at Buffalo for the opportunities and support they have given this staff."

Eight Gridiron Bulls named to All-MAC Team

A record eight Bulls were named to the All-Mid-American Conference Football Team on Tuesday, capping off the most successful football season in Buffalo's Division I history.

Freshman safety Davonte Shannon, senior defensive end Trevor Scott, senior center Jamey Richard, senior linebacker Larry Hutchinson, senior linebacker Kareem Byrom, sophomore running back James Starks, right guard Jeff Niedermier and sophomore wide receiver Naaman Roosevelt all earned honors. Buffalo will return 18 of 22 starters next season.
