Athletes of the Week
Senior wrestler Mike Ragusa was selected as the male athlete of the week. Ragusa won four matches to capture first place in the 174-pound weight class at the UB Open this past weekend. This was the second straight year Ragusa has won at this event. Last year, he won the 165-pound title and his overall record last season was 18-17.
Senior Ashley Turner from the women's soccer team was chosen as the female athlete of the week. Turner scored the game-winning goal in Buffalo's 3-0 victory in the final match of the season against Kent State. She finished the season tied for third place on the team with nine points, getting three goals and three assists. For her career, she accumulated nine goals and seven assists in four years with the Bulls.
UConn Men's Basketball Coming to Buffalo Next Year
With the Buffalo Bulls playing the Connecticut Huskies yesterday in the 2k College Hoops Classic, this means that UConn will make a trip to Alumni Arena in the 2008-2009 season to face the Bulls. This will mark the fourth straight season Buffalo has faced a school from the Big East conference. They have played Rutgers, Pittsburgh, South Florida this season, and now Connecticut. There is a possibility the game will be moved to HSBC Arena.
MAC Football Championship set
ESPN has confirmed that the 2007 Marathon Mid-American Conference Championship game will be at 11 a.m. The game will take place at Ford Field in Detroit, MI. The game can be seen on ESPN 2 and ESPN 2 HD. Talent for the game will be Pam Ward doing play-by-play, Ray Bentley as the analyst, and Bob Simmelkjar as sideline reporter. Central Michigan will represent the MAC West and their opponent from the MAC East is yet to be determined.
