Athletes of the Week
Sophomore mid-fielder Alex Marrelo of the soccer team was named the male athlete of the week. He had three assists to help Buffalo earn a five-game winning streak. Marrelo leads the Bulls with three assists and five points so far on the season.
Senior Andrea Novaceanu of the tennis team was named the female athlete of the week. She came in first in the second singles flight at the Army Invitational. Novaceanu won the final match in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 to claim first place. For the entire weekend, Novaceanu won all four of her matches and did not lose in one set.
MAC gets love from the 4-letter network
ESPN will be broadcasting three Mid-American Conference football games over the weekend on their ESPN Plus package. The smorgasbord of contests begins at noon on Saturday with Kent St. taking on Akron and Temple taking on Bowling Green. Wyoming will travel to Ohio for a 3 p.m. contest that will also be broadcasted on ESPN Plus. Howard at Eastern Michigan will all also be televised, but this game will be on Comcast local.
Other MAC games that were not deemed worthy enough for television are Central Michigan playing host to North Dakota St. and Ball State traveling to Big XII powerhouse Nebraska. Miami, OH will face Colorado in Boulder, and Northern Illinois will travel to Idaho. Buffalo will open the home portion of its schedule against Baylor, Western Michigan will play host to Central Conneticut St, and Toledo will host Iowa St.
