Softball doubleheader cancelled

UB cancelled a doubleheader against Big East member Pittsburgh scheduled for Wednesday. The game was scheduled to be Buffalo's home opening series.

Inclement weather from the past few days caused the field to be in poor condition. The university concluded that the poor field conditions in addition to poor upcoming weather would not allow the games to be played. The series will not be rescheduled.

Turner visits Buffalo Bills

The San Diego Chargers' running back, restricted agent Michael Turner, visited with the Bills Thursday. Turner spent last year backing up league Most Valuable Player LaDainian Tomlinson and averaged 6.3 yards a carry.

The Chargers tendered Turner to the highest total of $2.3 million earlier in the off-season. If the Bills decided to sign Turner to an offer sheet, they would be required to give San Diego a first and third round pick as compensation if the Chargers decided not to match. Many experts regard Turner as the best available running back on the free agent market.
