"Save a CD, lasso a police officer"

With a career spanning over a decade and numerous multi platinum albums, Tim McGraw is definitely not on his "last dollar." With his newest release "Let it go," McGraw is poised to reign over the steed that is country music yet again.

Opener and lead single, "Last Dollar (fly away)," is a catchy tune that's sure to grace country bars and radio stations across the nation. The song is memorable for McGraw's sing-a-long lyrics and the adorable vocals lent by his daughters during the concluding moments of the song.

This time around McGraw returns to his roots, making this a pure country album, unlike the formulated country/pop that currently sits atop the charts. Songs like "Whisky and You" are reminiscent of "Everywhere," McGraw's acclaimed 1997 release. Referring to drinking problems and forgiveness from your partner, the track is a reminder of the way the good ole south used to be.

The albums title track has the potential to be the next big McGraw single. Its honky-tonk melody and crowd-pleasing chorus shows that McGraw is out to maintain his reputation.

While his latest effort will undoubtedly sell like Rebel flags in the South, it often comes off as contrived country monotony. "Put Your Lovin' on Me" and "Comin' Home," exemplify McGraw's bland efforts that are about as appetizing as a bowl of vegetarian chili.

"I Need You" is the obligatory country duet, with none other than McGraw's wife, Faith Hill. The message is genuine and speaks of leaving vices behind for loved ones.

"I need you like the summer needs the rain/I need you like a needle needs a vein/like my uncle Joe needs the rain/I need you like a lighthouse on the coast/like the Father and the Son need the Holy Ghost/I need you," McGraw sings.

While "Let it Go" serves its purpose as a good-to-do album, it fails to live up to McGraw's previous efforts. Instead of releasing another so-so album, maybe McGraw should have stuck to lassoing unassuming police officers off their horses at Darien Lake.
