GPA does not equate to leadership ability

What does GPA stand for? If you say "grade point average" then you are correct, but what if I asked another question. For instance what does this so widely used "GPA" truly represent? There is a misconstrued conception that this acronym is representative of intelligence and even more far fetched responsibility.

First, all majors are not created equally. This statement is not indicative of the superiority of one major over another, but it is indicative that there are differences in what is required within each academic curriculum. Second, not all instructors' teaching styles, within a given course, are the same or always compatible with an individual's particular learning style. Lastly, and mostly notably no two students live identical lives. It is often said that academics' is first and foremost, but despite its level of priority it is not impermeable to life's unfortunate unavoidable curve balls.

There are many ways in which life can effectively influence GPA. I am not making excuses for anyone; however, to push for a higher GPA requirement for SA e-board or for SUNY assembly on the basis that a higher GPA ensures a more responsible individual is bogus.
