Two seniors named Athletes of the Week
Seniors Mark Budd of the wrestling team and Kahla Walkinshaw of the women's swimming and diving squad have been named the Athletes of the Week.
Budd, the 15th ranked grappler in the nation at 133-pounds, was named for reaching the 100 career win plateau in Saturday's match against the Binghamton Bearcats. He scored a 20-5 technical fall victory against Rob Slavin. The accomplishment makes him only the fourth wrestler in school history to reach the milestone.
Walkinshaw reached the finals in both the 100-yard and 200-yard butterfly events at the Mid-American Conference Championships. Placing fourth and fifth respectively, she posted season best times of 2:05:82 and 57:24 en route to leading the Bulls at the event. She also was a member of the sixth-place finishing 400-yard medley that posted a season best mark of 3:54:92.
Baseball garners weekly awards
The Bulls baseball team was awarded a pair of Mid-American Conference honors for their play against Delaware State this past week.
Junior designated hitter Chris Ciesla was named the MAC East Player of the Week for his 3-4 efforts from the plate in Saturday's game. He also drove in four runs and managed to reach base six times, while being walked and hit by a pitch. He also stole his first base in his collegiate career during the contest.
Freshman James Flatley was named the MAC East Pitcher of the Week in his first collegiate pitching effort. He scored a victory after throwing five innings of scoreless relief in the Bulls 14-5 victory. He struck out five while allowing only three hits.
