Bulls find mixed success in Saturday matches


The Buffalo men's tennis team split a pair of matches on Saturday, defeating Bucknell, before falling to Binghamton.

The team of seniors Mike Rockman and Yules Hadisubroto got Buffalo (4-2) off to a fast start against Bucknell (3-3), taking the doubles point, and giving the Bulls a 1-0 lead. Sophomore Octavian Stane and junior Nikesh Singh Panthalia also scored a doubles victory.

The Bulls dominated the singles matches against Bucknell, taking 5-6 contests. The 6-1 victory over Bucknell included singles victories by Rockman, Hadisubroto, Stane, Singh Panthalia and freshman Kirill Kolomytes.

But Buffalo faced stiffer competition in its second match-up that day against Binghamton (2-6). The Bulls won two of the three doubles sets including Rockman and Hadisubroto taking an 8-4 victory over Jon Bonnet and Pierre Clavel.

However, the singles matches went in the favor of Binghamton. The Bearcats won four of the six matches against the Bulls. The two Buffalo victories came via Singh Panthalia in three sets and senior Albert Alant in two.

The Bulls will continue on the road next Saturday when its faces Boston College at 10 a.m. and then Brown at 7 p.m.
