Football staff loses two, promotes one

Gerald Carr, who was hired last year as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, will not have his contract renewed. Offensive graduate assistant Kevin Lynch has resigned to pursue other opportunities.

Assistant strength coach Ryan Groneman was promoted to head strength coach. Groneman spent the last three years as assistant strength coach and will also oversee the day-to-day operations of the new Robert and Carol Morris Sports Performance Center.


Volleyball adds two recruits for 2007 season

The Volleyball team announced Lindsay Schlegel and Marisa Hornbaker will be joining UB in 2007. Both Schlegel and Hornbaker recently completed championship-winning senior seasons and both were named Prepvolleyball.com Senior Aces.

Schlegel, from nearby Lancaster, N.Y., just finished leading Lancaster High School to her second New York State Class AA Championship. Schlegel, a setter, is a four-time first team All-New York State member.

Hornbaker comes to Buffalo from Colorado Springs, Colo., where she led Colorado Springs Christian to a national ranking of 41 out of 715 ranked schools. Hornbaker is a Prepvolleyball.com second-team Academic All-American.
