Art imitating life

A sand mandala, painted with millions of grains of colored sand by the monks of the Drepung Loseling Monastery, is on display in the art gallery at the Center for the Arts until its deconstruction on Tuesday morning at 11. An art of tantric Buddhism, the sand painting represents the impermanence of life -- after days of effort placing the sand, the mandala is ceremonially deconstructed.
