Play date in the Student Union

Despite the chaos of trying to cram for finals and pack to go home, students took time out Friday to relax at Play Day, an event hosted by Student Life.

"We wanted to give students a way to relax at the end of the semester," said Jennifer Wantz, assistant director of Student Life. "It's a nice break during finals."

For many students, Play Day provided just that, and was a welcomed event to help ease the stress of exams while getting in touch with their inner child thanks to festivities including live music, painting, Play-Doh, board games, an array of free toys and munchies, and a station where students could make friendship bracelets.

"I'm really enjoying making bracelets," said Caitlin Ring, a junior psychology major. "My best friend and I used to make these all the time when I was little."

Groups of friends could be seen gathered at tables, playing board games that ranged from the classics of Operation, Sorry and Candy Land, to more challenging games such as Mad Gab and Trivial Pursuit.

Amidst the students laughing and playing games, many could be found helping themselves to fried dough, cotton candy and Kool-Aid. Several also delighted in the table of free goodies, which included candy bracelets, lollipops, stuffed toys and putty.

"I just got out of a final," said Gerene Skinner, a junior health and human service major. "My friends are here hanging out, and it's cool they have free food for students."
