Current: "Hustle & Flow" (2005)
As Djay, a pimp from Memphis, Terrence Howard turned in a performance not nearly as explosive as critics claimed, but one definitely worth seeing. The film as a whole provides realistic insights and manages not to glamorize his lifestyle nor excuse his utilitarian treatment of women.
Classic: "Midnight Cowboy" (1969)
Buck (Jon Voight), a southerner, comes to the big apple to begin a career as a male prostitute. Along the way he befriends Ratso Rizzo, played by Dustin Hoffman, who gives an unforgettable performance of a conniving, shameless, yet compassionate companion.
