This Weeks Theme: Pacino's Botched Bank Robberies

Current: "Heat" (1995)

Michael Mann's first big hit, "Heat," examines a bank robbery from the perspective of both the cops and the robbers. The film is responsible for bringing two of the greatest actors of its era, Al Pacino and Robert Deniro, together for the first time since "The Godfather: Part II," where they never actually shared screen time.

Classic: "Dog Day Afternoon" (1975)

Nominated for an Academy Award for best picture, "Dog Day Afternoon" features a young Pacino at his very best. Small time crook Sonny slowly cracks under the pressure when a simple bank robbery snowballs into a national media crisis.
