Seniors James Kingsley of the baseball team and Kristen Ortman of the women's tennis team were named this week's UB Male and Female Athletes of the Week.
Kingsley, the Bulls' starting first basemen, scored six times while hitting .632 including two doubles, a home run, and six RBI over the past week. Buffalo swept St. Bonaventure in a two-game series and put together a three-game winning streak. In the two games against St. Bonaventure, Kingsley went 5-of-8 including a four-hit game.
Ortman went 3-0 in singles and doubles play over the past week as the Bulls clinched second place in the Mid-American Conference. The second-place finish is the best for any men's or women's tennis team since joining the MAC.
With her victory over Ball State's Katie Owen, Ortman now holds the record for most career singles victories with 59. Ortman is 19-5 in singles play this season and 17-8 in doubles.
