Tuition doesn't pay many salaries

This is in regard to Mike Flatt's column "We pay your salary," Feb. 22.

No, you really don't pay your professor's salary. In 2003-04, UB received $1.0279 billion in revenue - only $133.8 million of which came from tuition and fees. It is exceedingly presumptuous to make demands on a professor's time.

They have plenty of concerns beyond your inability to understand. Next time, be a little more gracious. After all, you're only footing 13 percent of their bills.
