Permanent ticket to Cleveland
The Mid-American Conference announced that starting next season, the men's and women's postseason basketball tournaments will be held exclusively at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland. This is a change in format from previous seasons where first-round games were held at on-campus sites.
To accommodate these structural changes, the women's tournament will become a two-weekend event with the first and second round being played in one weekend, while the semifinals and championship games will be held the next one. The men's tournament will begin on a Wednesday and run through to a Saturday championship match.
The conference also extended its relationship with the "Q" through 2011. The men's tournament has been playing at the arena since 2000, while the women's games moved there a year later in 2001.
