In response to "Mr. Sillick's swan song" (Jan. 23): My daughter, a freshman, called tonight to tell me of your remembrance of Mr. Sillick. I was his student from 1969 to 1971. He was the finest teacher I ever knew.
Like Mr. Sillick, I went St. Bonaventure University. Then I had a 25-year career as a journalist and now teach and tutor part-time in a community college. It's how I honor him for being the best.
What a gift your column was to me. I thank you for sharing, and I wish you good luck in all you do. You write beautifully.
