Pre-season stomping


Coming off from an historic season, the men's basketball team was back in action Friday night as they hosted Division-II Gannon in an exhibition game. The Bulls thoroughly trounced Gannon by a score of 90-59 on Friday night in front of a home crowd in Alumni Arena. Mario Jordan led the Bulls in scoring with 22 points while the big man Yassin Idibihi tallied 16. Calvin Cage pitched in 15 points and Roderick Middleton added 13.

On defense, the Bulls forced 26 turnovers while freshman Eric Moore and Greg Gamble made their first appearances in blue and white. Moore notched nine points on the night while the Niagara Falls native Gamble sunk all his shots from the floor for eight points.

The Bulls will host Canisius in their season opener on Friday at 8:00 p.m. in Alumni Arena.


ESPN honors


Senior Katie Weekley of the UB volleyball team earned academic honors from ESPN the Magazine. Weekley was named with 11 other athletes from New York, New England and Pennsylvania to the Academic All-District Second Team by the sports magazine.

Weekley touts a 3.83 GPA as a psychology major while closing in on the 1,000 mark for career kills.
