In Mr. Balter's letter to the editor ("Activist victories were reversed," Oct. 31) he asked, "Why protest when eventually the hard fought victories will be overturned?"
The answer is not only in the question, it is the question. Our mothers and grandmothers fought for reproductive freedom and won the right to privacy. Our failure to protest in defense of it is letting go of that right. Do we have to wait until it fails to protest? We should act now and prevent it from happening all together. Would we rather wait, and once it falls, continue to sit idly by and have everything else taken from us? Abortion, birth control, our right to vote?
