Mandatory fee and SA focus misguided

I am an older student in her last senior semester at UB. And when I mean older, I mean older. I am upset about the fact that I have to pay a mandatory student activity fee of $400.00+. I know what it is forbut I also know that none of the activities on campus are gearedtowards older students. Why should I pay a fee that doesn't evenaddress my desires or needs?

In fact I don't understand why any student that is only going part-time has to be obligated to pay this fee. I am only taking six credit hours so the only time I spend on campus is when I take classes. The reason I am only taking six credits is because I only need one of the three credit hour classes I am taking in order to complete my degree. (Regretfully in order to obtain financial aid you have to take at least six credits; another gripe of mine. Oh well, another time for that issue.)

As far as I am concerned I am just financially footing the bill for organizations, clubs, events, concerts, movies, etc. that don't even begin to stimulate any interests that I may have at all. Kanye West is definitely not part of my frame of mind. This is probably a moot issue but I just felt the need to vent. I'm done with that piece.

As far as the SA is concerned I wish you luck. If you don't work as a team you will never get anywhere. Working to bring everyone to the table is what it is all about. The time period for blame is over with. You all need to move forward if any of you intend to promote advocacy of any kind. I have always believed that advocacy on behalf of anyone's part is essential to meet the needs of anyone they are advocating for. If you don't know what the needs are of the population that you need to reach then whatever goals you are trying to accomplish will never be met.
