Athletes of the Week

Dan McKenna and Andreea Novaceanu have been selected as buffalobulls.com Athlete's of the Week.

McKenna, part of the men's cross country team and a junior, started his season off well, winning the individual title at the Tommy Evans Invite. McKenna finished the four-mile course in 20:36, over 20 seconds before his closest competition.

Novaceanu, a sophomore member of the women's tennis team, claimed the A singles title at the Cornell Invitational over the weekend, posting a perfect 4-0 record. Novaceanu is no stranger to singles titles, winning two last year.

Conference Competition Commences

Week two in NCAA football was the first time Mid-American Conference teams faced conference opponents.

2004 MAC Champions, Toledo Rockets (2-0, 1-0 MAC), hosted the Western Michigan Broncos (0-2, 0-1 MAC) on Saturday. The Rockets blasted past the Broncos, winning 56-23.

Ball State (0-2, 0-1 MAC) also saw its first MAC game on Saturday, welcoming Bowling Green (1-1, 1-0 MAC) to its field. Bowling Green enjoyed its welcome as it rolled on to a 40-31 victory over the host Cardinals.

The smallest margin of victory for a MAC team over a fellow conference school was at Central Michigan. Central Michigan (1-1, 1-0 MAC) posted one point win over Miami (OH) (0-2, 0-1 MAC), 38-37.

Miami (OH) will look for its first MAC victory this weekend at Kent State (1-1, 0-0 MAC), as the only conference game of the week.

Buffalo will not see its first MAC competition until it heads to Western Michigan on Saturday October 1.
