Koeppel recognized by ESPN the Mag


Recent UB graduates Jenny Koeppel and Faith Thompson have both been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I Women's Cross Country/Track and Field First Team. Koeppel won the MAC Championships for the 2004 cross country season and became the first women in UB history to compete at the NCAA tournament. Koeppel carried a 3.6 average as a math major and was an Academic All-MAC selection in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track in 2004-05.

Thompson made her first NCAA appearance last season when she competed in the hammer throw. Thompson holds three school records and took home MAC championships in the 20 pound outdoor hammer throw and indoor weight throw. Thompson boasts 3.97 undergraduate GPA and is pursuing her master's degree in counseling.


Men's swimming earns top academic honors


The UB men's swimming and diving team has been honored as one of the nation's top academic teams, according to the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). The CSCAA recognized 272 men's and women's programs from 171 different institutions at the Division I, II and III levels as All-Academic Teams following the spring 2005 semester. The Bulls' 3.07 grade point average ranked 21st in the nation among the 48 Division I institutions honored. Buffalo ranked 12th in the country out of 42 Division I schools with a 3.13 team GPA in the fall 2004 semester.


Baseball holds team try-outs


The UB varsity baseball team will be holding open try-outs on September 7 beginning at 6p.m. Students interested in trying out for the team should report to Amherst Audubon Field with a glove and spikes. For Further information contact head coach Bill Breene at breene@buffalo.edu


Women's soccer travels to Sunshine State


The women's soccer team will play at Central Florida Tournament where the ladies will face Jacksonville on Saturday at 4:00 pm and then Central Florida on Monday at 1:30 pm. Both of these are non-conference games. The Bulls have never played either teams before
