Cerminara ranked in freestyle

In the quest for a national championship, senior wrestling captain Kyle Cerminara has yet another accolade to add to his illustrious career as he has been ranked sixth by USA Wrestling's 2005-2006 freestyle rankings for 96 kilograms. The honor comes after a successful summer in freestyle competition, where Cerminara placed third at the Canada Cup, sixth at the U.S. World Team Trails and fifth at the U.S. Nationals. The All-American is ranked behind an Olympian, a two-time All-American, and a two-time national champion.

USA Wrestling is responsible for selecting teams to represent the United States in international competition, including the World Championships and the Olympics Games.

MAC rings "Bell" for player of the week

After a seven-game win streak, junior goalkeeper Daniel Bell has been named Mid-American Conference player of the week. Bell and the men's soccer team tallied three wins last week, two of which were back-to-back shutouts in Georgia Southern University's 2005 Kick-off Classic.

On the season, Bell has recorded 19 saves and seven wins, putting him just one win shy of his career high eight, which came last season. Currently Bell leads the MAC in shutouts with four and is second in both goals against average with .57 and save percentage with .826.

Bulls broadcast schedule expands

UB athletics has added both men's and women's soccer games to be featured on WLVL 1340. The women's home game against Miami (Ohio) on Sept. 23 and the men's game against Canisius on Sept. 30 are both scheduled to be aired at 7 p.m. on their respective dates.

Former Geneseo University standout and current editor of Bills Digest Chris Brown will conduct the play-by-play for both games.

In addition to the soccer teams receiving more airtime, the lengthened broadcast schedule also includes live broadcasts of all women's basketball games, four volleyball matches and six other events that have yet to be announced on top of the regular broadcasts of men's basketball and football.

UB Athletes of the Week

As a weekly feature on buffalobulls.com, junior Daniel Bell and senior Amy Brown from the UB volleyball team are the Athletes of the Week.

Bell, the Bulls' goalkeeper, is part of the undefeated men's soccer team that has shut out four opponents so far this season. Bell was also named the MAC player of the week.

Brown, a setter, became a crucial part of the Bulls 3-1 record over the past week, culminating in a second-place finish in the West Virginia Classic. Brown, who was named to the All-Tournament team, averaged 11.06 assists and 2.82 digs, as a part of her four double-doubles in assists and digs.
