Attendance adds Katrina fundraiser

Students and faculty have the opportunity to raise money for Hurricane Katrina victims relocated to Western New York by attending Buffalo's football home opener versus Rutgers Saturday night.

UB Student Association, The Chickering Group and Frito Lay are sponsoring "Students Creating Change." 50 cents will be donated for every UB student with a valid ID who walks through the turnstile at UB Stadium.

Faculty and staff are participating in the "Faculty/Staff Challenge." Student Affairs and the Division of Athletics are coordinating general admission tickets for faculty and staff members for a $5 donation to the relief efforts.

Gates will open at 6 p.m. with kickoff scheduled for 8 p.m.

Men's soccer ranked

UB men's soccer is ranked fifth in the region according to NSCAA/Adidas regional rankings. The rankings, released Tuesday, put the undefeated Bulls (5-0-0) behind just four other universities in the state, St. John's University (2-1-1), Binghamton University (4-0-1), Syracuse University (4-0-0) and Hartwick College (3-1-0), respectively.

As of Tuesday, UB was also named one of only 15 teams in the nation that remain undefeated.
