Gwyther receives national honors

Freshman midfielder Dan Gwyther of the UB men's soccer team was recently honored by "College Soccer" as one of 26 freshmen players "making an impact" in Divison-I this week.

Gwyther has started each of UB's seven victories as part of a Bulls' defensive unit that did not allow the opposing team to score in four games and is off to an undefeated season, 7-0-0.

Basketball buzz begins

With more than 50 days to go before the opening tip-off for the UB men's basketball team, the buzz has begun thanks to an ESPN announcement that Buffalo is participating in Bracket Buster Saturday. The Mid-American Conference leads the pack with the most representatives, sending all 12 of its teams.

Buffalo has yet to release its official schedule for the upcoming season but has posted a tentative non-conference schedule in its preseason prospectus. The Bulls are scheduled to face the Canisius Golden Griffins on Nov. 18 at Alumni Arena with games coming later in the year against Fresno State, Niagara, Liberty, Rutgers, Elon, Delaware State and a Bracket Buster opponent that won't be named until Jan. 29.
